Child Focused Therapy vs Context Focused Therapy In the past, treatments for children with CP have focused on changing the child’s function by trying to change their abilities like strength, movement and coordination. This is known as Child Focused therapy. A different approach is to focus on changing the activity or the environment to allow children to participate in their desired activities in whatever ways they can. Dynamic Systems Theory Dynamic systems theory posits that motor behaviors are organized around functional tasks or goals and that the specific motor solution is influenced by the spontaneous interaction of variables from three sources: child characteristics, task demands, and environmental influences.
