Many Facets of One Grace
 Grace of God unto salvation
 Grace of Christ on the cross
 Continuing Grace
 Grace of calling to service
 Grace gifts for success
 Grace in us manifested through
good words and deeds
 Future Grace to be experienced
Grace that Brings Salvation
 God’s grace is manifested in the offer
of salvation.
 Christ’s grace is manifested at the
cross.
 Does that mean biblical Grace is only
seen in God’s provision of salvation?
 “May it never be”
How Does Grace “Continue”?
 “Saving Grace,” the supernatural,
irresistible working of salvation in us,
once begun never ceases.
 In other words, “Once saved, always
saved.”
 “Common Grace” is available to all men
through God’s providential design.
 “Prevenient Grace” is the preparation of
our souls for the receiving of the gospel
message through the restoring work of
the Cross.

How Does Grace “Continue”?
 Grace is God’s loving disposition
towards us that results in beneficial
acts on our behalf whether we
deserve them or not.
 Does God continue to provide these
“undeserved blessings” to His children
throughout their lives with Him?
 “Thanks be to God!” He does!
Continuing in Grace
 Acts 13:43
Now when the meeting of the synagogue had
broken up, many of the Jews and of the God-
fearing proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas,
who, speaking to them, were urging them to
continue in the grace of God.
 Acts 4:33
And with great power the apostles were giving
testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus,
and abundant grace was upon them all.
 Psalm 84:11
For the LORD God is a sun and shield; The
LORD gives grace and glory; No good thing
does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.
What do we know about those
blessings?
 God’s grace is sufficient
◦ 2 Corinthians 9:8
And God is able to make all grace abound to you,
so that always having all sufficiency in everything,
you may have an abundance for every good deed;
◦ Hebrews 13:9
Do not be carried away by varied and strange
teachings; for it is good for the heart to be
strengthened by grace, not by foods, through which
those who were so occupied were not benefited.
◦ John 1:16
For of His fullness we have all received, and grace
upon grace.
◦ Do we believe that what God blesses us with is
“undeserved” and “more than enough”?
What do we know about those
blessings?
 God’s grace is sufficient in our trials
◦ Hebrews 4:16
Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the
throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and
find grace to help in time of need.
◦ 2 Corinthians 12:9
And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for
you, for power is perfected in weakness.”
◦ Proverbs 3:34
Though He scoffs at the scoffers, Yet He gives
grace to the afflicted.
◦ If we don’t believe God’s grace is sufficient, we will
never believe it is sufficient in our trials!
What do we know about those
blessings?
 God’s grace is sufficient for our work
◦ 2 Corinthians 1:12
For our proud confidence is this: the testimony of
our conscience, that in holiness and godly
sincerity, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of
God, we have conducted ourselves in the world,
and especially toward you.
◦ Acts 14:26
From there they sailed to Antioch, from which
they had been commended to the grace of God
for the work that they had accomplished.
What do we know about those
blessings?
 God’s grace is sufficient for our work
◦ Acts 15:40
But Paul chose Silas and left, being committed
by the brethren to the grace of the Lord.
◦ 1 Corinthians 15:10
But by the grace of God I am what I am, and
His grace toward me did not prove vain; but I
labored even more than all of them, yet not I,
but the grace of God with me.
◦ Do we believe that God blesses both the work
and the worker?
What do we know about those
blessings?
 God’s grace is poured out on the
humble!
◦ James 4:6
But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, “
GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES
GRACE TO THE HUMBLE.”
◦ Ephesians 6:24
Grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus
Christ with incorruptible love.
◦ If we don’t think we need God’s gracious gifts or
think they are insufficient or inferior, then He
doesn’t provide them!
That goes for salvation as well!

Editor's Notes

  • #4: Manifests itself in two ways: 1. God reversed the curse of Adam so that all mankind can now choose for themselves whether they want to walk with God or not. 2. God works in our lives to direct us/lead us to a point of desiring to know Him. (“those whom He calls” “pricked in the heart”). As a result, “prevenient grace” is associated with any and all non-Calvinist views. If by prevenient grace someone means, not pre-destined, not forced into salvation, and not saved regardless of your actions and attitudes toward God, then I’m all over it! But since that isn’t exactly what most people mean, then I avoid the whole idea.
