- 9. COORDINATING CONJUNCTIONS A coordinating conjunction joins parts of a sentence (for example words or independent clauses) that are grammatically equal or similar.
- 10. EXAMPLE Look at these examples - the two elements that the coordinating conjunction joins are shown in square brackets [ ]: I like [chicken] and [steak] for breakfast. [Kenzo likes chicken] but [Jerome likes steak.]

- 15. NOR • It is used for emphasis the statement in negative sentence. He is not rich NOR famous.
- 16. BUT She is beautiful but she is evil. It is used to express contrast. It connects an affirmative and a negative statement.
- 17. OR It joins two contrasting or alternative ideas together. Do you like a hot or cold drink?
- 18. YET It is used to add information in the sentence. It also used to present contrast or exceptional. It has the same function with BUT. Pao plays basketball well YET he likes playing barbie dolls more.
