Correlation analyzes the relationship between two or more variables. It provides a quantitative measure of their degree of relationship but does not indicate causation. There can be positive correlation, where variables increase together, negative correlation where they change oppositely, or no correlation. Correlation coefficients range from -1 to 1, with higher positive or negative values indicating a stronger linear relationship. Common coefficients are Pearson's r and Spearman's rho. While correlation reveals associations, it cannot prove one variable causes another.
