CRAAP on the Internet How to identify strong internet resources
Currency The state of being up-to-date.  When was it posted and how often it is revised? (Keep in mind that a revision may just be a grammar or typo fix.) Do the links work and are the sites up-to date? Is there any new information or links? (These are sometimes marked). This helps indicate that the site is still being updated.
Relevance and Coverage The uniqueness  and importance of the content for your purposes. How complete is the information presented? Is it bite sized trivia or full papers? Is the information unique or just interesting?  Does the information pass the so what test? Availability: is it also available in other formats (print or electronic)?  Could you find the same or better information in another source? Is that source more reliable?  Would you be comfortable using this source for a research paper?
Authority The source of the web page.  Who the created the site?  Is the author a student or teacher of the topic or just someone with a general interest? What are their credentials? Has the author published works in other formats? Such as through a professional journal. What does the domain name/URL say about the source? Is this a free site or a blog?
Accuracy The reliability of the information What are the original sources of information and are they listed?  Can you verify any of the information in independent sources or from general knowledge?  Is there an obvious bias to the article?  Are there spelling, grammar, or typos?
Purpose The reason a website exists Are editorials and opinions clearly labeled?  Can you tell the difference between the advertisements and the content?  Is the purpose of the page stated?  What is the purpose:  Is it to inform? Is it to educate? Is it to entertain? Is it to sell you an idea or product?
Meaning of the end. What does the domain reveal about the source of the information? .com- General commercial use .edu- Educational Institutions .gov- Government run site .org- Miscellanous organizations (such as non-profits) .net- Networking technologies or general commerical use .mil- Military site
Do I pass? Wikipedia Currency- Very Current Relevance- Great for general knowledge Authority-Nope. Anyone can edit. Accuracy- Only as accurate as the author. Purpose- To educate. Failed
