Course Meetings: At Broward Community College’s central campus in the Media Center
located at 3501 Davie Rd, Davie, FL 33314. Phone: (954) 201-6800. The meetings will
take place on Monday (8/11/2014), Monday (8/18/2014), and Monday (8/25/2014) from
7:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. EST.
Credit Hours: 9
Course Description
This course will introduce you to complementary and alternative medicine (CAM),
yoga for health, as well as relaxation techniques and will focus on the basic concepts that
are associated with them. There will be three sessions and each of them will be 1½ hours
long. The first session introduces you to complementary and alternative medicine, the
second session introduces you to yoga for health, and the third session introduces you to
relaxation techniques.
Course Prerequisites
None
Course Aims
1. To learn the basic concepts of complementary and alternative medicine.
2. To learn what concepts are entailed with yoga for health.
3. To learn some relaxation techniques that facilitate stress relief.
Required Materials
1. One yoga mat
2. One bath towel
3. Two hand towels
Recommended Materials
1. A notebook for note taking.
2. A highlighter for highlighting notes.
3. A pen or pencil for note taking
Grading Scale
There will be no quizzes or tests as there is no need for academic assessments in this
three session course.
Child care
No child care will be provided.
