• #9: Word or tag clouds are a fun way to visualize data. One of the sessions I attended was by Dr. Teresa Welsh, a former professor of mine, about visualization tools for teaching & research. She had us use text analysers and clouds as assignments in her class, as well, so I was familiar already with Wordle and some of the other tools in her presentation.
• #10: Wordle gives you three ways to input text for the cloud. You can cut & past into the first box; you can enter a URL in the second box; or you can enter a del.icio.us user name.I used the URL for my Wordpress site.
• #11: This is the result.Once the image is created in the applet, you may vary the color scheme in dozens of ways, the shape of the cloud, the direction of the word, eliminate common words, set language, set the maximum number of words to use, see the word counts, change case to all upper, all lower.To save the image, If you are a Windows user, use PrintScreen, open Paint and paste into a new image.On my Mac, I use the Grab utility app and Capture>Selection(In this case, I increased the size of the image on my screen using Command+Plus, then captured my image, because I hoped it would make a decent image to be seen on a large display in the presentation).
