Recruitment
Increased organization’s minority population system-wide by 23% in two years. Increased recruitment activities at colleges and universities with high concentrations of minority students. Increased percentage of minorities involved in all Organizational Special Training Programs.
Increased recruitment of minorities at national conferences. Supported recruitment initiatives undertaken by  local chapters. Advertised career development opportunities in publications targeting minority audiences and with organizations serving minority clients.
Leadership Development
All Group I participants of the Minority Leadership Development (MLD) Program received senior level promotions. One third of Group II participants were appointed as CEOs of their own organizations (as of this presentation).
Appointments were requested and secured in key leadership and functional national committees for most MLD participants. “Managing a Non-Profit” course was conducted on behalf of select MLD participants.
“21 participants were selected to participate in MLD’s Group II and completed first phase of program. Over 40 minorities are currently serving as Non-Profit’s Chief Executive Officers. Professional development and career counseling has been provided to participants of both groups.
Outreach
Quarterly mailings were distributed to all minority professionals to coincide with cultural heritage celebration months. Input was solicited from minorities at the National Diversity Roundtable and regional conferences and incorporated into the division’s program development plans.
A National Diversity Roundtable Planning Committee was formed to provide guidance and to oversee program development and conference planning. Information exchange was developed in conjunction  with other key advocacy organizations such as: The National Urban League The National Council of La Raza The Asia Society
Advertising efforts were conducted with select national, regional, and local publications targeting diverse populations. Senior Management attendance was increased dramatically at diversity related conferences and other national diversity events
Membership was acquired in, and contributions were made to, select organizations addressing the needs of diversity stakeholders. “ P ara  S u  I nformación— PSI” (For Your Information)  Newsletter was developed to disseminate information on cultural diversity related issues to Senior Management and other key stakeholders.
Networking
Developed Directory of Non-Profit’s Diversity Professionals: First Edition of Directory was distributed only to minority professionals attending the Diversity Roundtable. Second Edition of Directory was distributed nationwide to all minority professionals consisting of 1,300 staff.
Developed online database of minority professionals to support and enhance networking opportunities through use of specialized listings targeting information to minorities by ethnic composition, gender, position title, functional area, region, size of local organization (chapter size), etc. Conducted receptions for minority professionals at all regional conferences.
Assisted with the development of the Asian and Pacific Islander Network Increased information exchange and raised awareness of key issues through quarterly mailings to all minority professionals. Facilitated interaction of minority professionals during Diversity Roundtable in Southwest Region.
Career Coaching
Nearly 60% of all minority professionals in the Non-Profit Organization were reached in one year. Administered “Career Action Inventory” to more than 500 entry- to mid-level minority professionals.
Conducted “Career Dimensions” workshops for 63 out of 100 entry- to mid-level minority professionals at the Diversity Roundtable in Southwest Region. Career development workshops were conducted in other key MSAs reaching over 600 minority professionals.
Conducted “One-on-One” career counseling and professional development sessions at the Diversity Roundtable, the National Leaders Conference, and at all regional conferences. Provided personal consultation, coaching, leadership development, and assisted minority professionals attending training academy courses as requested.
Market Segmentation
Developed think-tanks to surface issues of concern by race and ethnicity during the Diversity Roundtable in Southwest Region using the “Nominal Group Technique” process. Conducted outreach efforts to African-Americans, Asians and Pacific Islanders, and Hispanics both inside and outside the Non-Profit’s Network.
Effected mailings to Human Resources Directors providing data, tools, demographics reports, and other background information to assist in the recruitment and development of minority professionals. Raised level of awareness for Non-Profit Organization’s senior management concerning issues of inclusiveness, cultural diversity, and minority affairs.
Targeted minority professionals at the entry-, mid- and senior-levels by distributing information and tools relevant to their career, organizational, functional, and individual development needs.
Roundtables and Conferences
Registration for the Diversity Roundtable was opened to include minority professionals at all functional levels resulting in more than a 300% increase in participation. “Nominal Group Technique” sessions were held by  race and ethnicity to address issues of concern pertinent to each group.
Human Resources Roundtable incorporated into its workplans recommendations which were made by minority professionals at the Diversity Roundtable in Southwest Region regarding issues of cultural diversity and minority affairs. Women’s Roundtable addressed issues which were pertinent to female minority professionals.
Diversity training sessions were scheduled for the National Leaders Conference in Washington. Conducted receptions for minority professionals at all regional staff conferences. Increased Non-Profit Organization’s involvement in national conferences and events conducted by other organizations serving minority stakeholders.
Professional Development
“Career Dimensions” workshops were conducted at the Diversity Roundtable reaching more than 60 entry- and mid-level minority professionals. “Career Dimensions” workshops were conducted at select local chapters where 65% of minority professionals were reached.
Increased participation of minority professionals in all Human Resources Development Programs including: Management Training Program Resource Development Training Program Fast Track Program “ One-on-One” sessions were conducted with minority professionals attending training academy courses, at regional and national conferences, and on request.
Coalition Building
Provided assistance to national advocacy organizations working with minority stakeholders and/or addressing minority related issues. Involved national NGOs in diversity symposium. Developed alliances with corporate sector (Fortune 500s) in the areas of minority affairs and personnel diversity.
Developed database of national, regional, and local organizations dealing with minority affairs, inclusiveness, and diversity issues. Increased Non-Profit Organization’s participation and involvement in national conferences and events addressing diversity issues.
Technical Assistance
Assisted select chapters with policy interpretation and/or development in areas related to affirmative action, EEO, and personnel diversity. Developed resource publication for Diversity Roundtables including substantial research and sample articles and essays dealing with minority related issues.  Distributed over 500 copies.
Due to its unprecedented success, responded to more than 200 internal and external additional requests for Diversity Roundtable resource publication. With the assistance of Research Services, developed and distributed “Population Reports” highlighting minority demographics.  More than 3,000 copies of reports were distributed nationwide.
Provided consultation to Media Productions, Communications, Public Affairs, Community Partnerships, and Volunteer Initiatives Divisions in the development of reports, tools, programs, and services impacting a wide range of stakeholders.
