This document provides an overview of social media and how nonprofits can utilize different social media platforms. It defines social media and provides examples like social bookmarking, photo sharing, podcasts, blogs, microblogging, and social networking. For each type of social media, examples are given of how the Michigan Nonprofit Association (MNA) uses platforms like Flickr, YouTube, WordPress, Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn and Ning. Best practices for using social media are also discussed.
