NWEA and NCAM presented on making computer-adaptive assessments more accessible. They discussed adding image descriptions to existing test item banks involving over 11,000 images. NCAM helped by hiring editors to write descriptions and working with NWEA to ensure accuracy. Their immediate work also includes making interactive test items accessible to screen readers by identifying answers choices and selection states. Maintaining this process internally requires training, documentation, and subject experts. Current challenges include delivering interactions, expanding to other formats like Braille, and readiness of technologies in schools.
