CAREER OBJECTIVE
I am keen to begin a career in biomedical science or pharmaceutical industry. I am a person who adapts quickly and
tend to combine work, studies and/or other commitments. In achieving this, I have shown myself to be self-motivated,
committed and determined in achieving my goals, come what may. Independently or as a part of a team I have also
demonstrated negotiating and organizing skills, a firm sense of responsibility, creativity and capacity to work hard
under pressure. An example to that is completing successfully multiple internships and securing Master's degree in
under one year.
Expertise: Chemical Engineering, Nanotechnology for bio-applications, Atomic Force Microscopy for BioNano
applications, Nanomechanics, Surface Engineering.
EDUCATION
2012 – 2013 UNIVERSITY COLLEGE DUBLIN Research MSc
Courses:
Nanomechanics, Atomic Force Microscopy for BioNano, Chem & ChemBio Seminar Prog I, Grad Assistant
Research Project:
“Single molecule force spectroscopy on live Aplysia neurons” Required multi-field expertise some of which are
chemistry, biology, engineering, nanotechnology, and microscopy. Following the project goals required strict
methodology, organization and close attention to detail. Project supervised by Prof. Gil U Lee and guided by
Elena Martines, PhD.
Practical skills gained:
 Cleaning, characterizing (by TEM, SEM, etc.) and functionalizing gold surfaces with polymers and subsequent
attachment of proteins (BSA and/ or ApCAM molecules). Extracting, preparation and plating of neuron cells
(Aplysa) followed with Atomic Force Microscopy with protein coated gold tips.
 Teaching/ supervising chemistry practical classes of small groups of 8-14 people conducting various simple
chemistry synthesis and chemistry spectroscopy methods.

Practical skills gained:
Aplysia neuron cell plating on PLL coated surface; Cell microinjection with solutions of RNA and Texas Red;
RNA transfection and actin staining; Texas Red and FRET imaging of the neuron cells.
January 2011 – April 2011 UNIVERSITY COLLEGE DUBLIN Research project “Multi-functional silica
nanoparticles for biological applications”
Project description:
Study over synthesis of multi-functional particles of SiO2 is done following requirements for in vivo and in vitro
applications. The study was done within the framework of the European Science Foundation guided by Dr.
Eugene Mahon in Prof. K. Dawson's group.
Practical skills gained:
Nanoparticle synthesis by sonochemical approach combined with co-precipitation and incorporation of
fluorescent dyes, particle characterization, and teamwork in international environment.
July 2009 – September 2009 OTTO-VON-GUERICKE-UNIVERSITAT Internship project “Functionalization and
Stabilization of magnetic nanoparticles by TiO2 nanoparticles shell”
Project description:
Investigation of magnetic nanoparticles synthesis by reduction-precipitation method and surface
functionalization with silicon dioxide and titanium dioxide for industrial means. The study was done within the
framework of Erasmus Mundus supervised by Dr. Veselina Yordanova-Bineva in Prof. Jürgen Tomas' group.
Practical skills gained:
Magnetic nanoparticle synthesis and surface deposition, preparation of scientific reports, and working in
international environment.
GRANTS
