1. The ventricular septum develops and divides the primitive ventricle into left and right ventricles in the 4th week of development.
2. The bulbus cordis develops ridges that fuse to form septa dividing it into the pulmonary trunk and aorta.
3. Defects in septal development can cause congenital heart anomalies like ventricular septal defects or tetralogy of Fallot.
