Camp provides fun activities but also helps campers grow through relationships. Campers form strong bonds and discover themselves and each other. The camp experience, including late nights by the campfire, allows campers to face fears and find comfort in their new camp family. Though sad to leave, campers know the love and growth they experience at camp will stay with them forever and the camp family will continue to welcome new members each summer.

- 1. Camp, by definition, is meant to be fun, filled with games and activities; it is meant to help you develop, and it is meant to teach. But at the very heart of camp, it is so much more than that. There is something significantly special about camp that quite simply goes far beyond the definitive meaning of the word. It isn’t the isolation, or the sweltering heat. It isn’t the early nights and early mornings. No, it is the experience; it is the people we discover. It is about defining ourselves through the bonds formed here at camp. Its about joy, about happiness, the laughter and the warmth of the glowing campfire in the middle of a star filled night. It’s the marveling at the glowing embers spitting out to join the twinkling stars. It’s about fears and silent hopes, and the ease in conquering them with each other.<br />And it’s all of this that makes camp – Rawhide especially – so special. There’s a magical quality to it all. Here at camp we find love, love for this place, for this family we have created, and a love for that niche we have carved as individuals. And this comfort is the means for our growth. And though quite unnoticeable, this growth and learning is something we will all carry with us for forever. When the time comes to leave we grow sad with the thought of departure, but we all know that a love and bond like this never departs, and the magic and growth remains with each and every one of us.<br />So yes, camp is partially all about fun and games. But in itself it is rooted to something so much deeper, which connects all of us who have had the chance to experience this place. <br />And though the end of summer is close at hand, there’s really no such thing as the end. An end is just the means for a new beginning. And when the sounds of laughter, jubilance and euphoria starts up again next summer, you will know that Rawhide is working its magic on a whole new set of campers yet again. And for me, that idea in itself sets a smile upon my face. That this family is forever growing, and that every year there are more and more to share and find comfort in the love and friendship formed here.
