Teacher Questionnaire
The questionnaire is done pre-observation. It is done to gather the teachers and
students’strengths and weaknesses in the classroom as far as reading comprehension, technology use
during reading comprehension, and the use of questioning. The questionnaire will consist of the
following questions;
•

The teachers’ use of questioning

•

The teachers’ use of technology in reading comprehension

•

How the teachers are or are not comfortable using technology in their classroom

•

How do your students respond to technology use in reading comprehension?

•

Do you teach self-questioning?

•

What is an area you could improve on as far as reading comprehension instruction?

Performance Check List
The performance check list is used to keep track of the teachers’ use of questioning in the
classroom during the three visits. It consists of the following criteria:
Use of technology during the lesson or use of technology to make the lesson
Number of questioning strategies used
Number of uses of “questioning” during the lesson
Pertaining to the uses of “questioning” tally, how many of them resulted in a gain of
student knowledge (how many were effective)
Along with this check list, an anecdotal record will be kept of the questions and answers given in the
observed classes for reference.
Rating Scale
Using the performance check list teachers will be rated on a scale of 1 to 5. One will be not
effective, three will be effective, and five will be highly effective. The rating scale will be reported and
each teacher will receive an overall average of 1 to 5. The least effective and most effective teachers’
results will be reported and assessed in the results section.

  • 1. Data sources Teacher Questionnaire The questionnaire is done pre-observation.
