Capoeira classes are offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-6:30pm at the Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts in San Francisco for $8 per class. Capoeira is a Brazilian martial art and dance that originated from African slavery and was practiced secretly until being legalized in the early 20th century. Though once seen as a threat, capoeira has gained international recognition as both a fighting style and form of cultural expression.
