1. The History of the UFP
The University Foundation Programme has come to be established as one of the oldest and
most well respected foundation years in the United Kingdom, providing an entry level quali-
fication for undergraduate study accepted by over 100 British universities. Over the last few
years alone, UFP alumni have progressed on to studying a wide variety of competitive courses
at universities such as Bristol, Manchester, LSE, SOAS, Queen Mary, Bath, City (CASS Business
School) and King’s College London.
The reputable and academic nature of our course has allowed us to develop an extensive
network of relationships with top universities all over the UK, including formal articulation
agreements with 10 in particular. As we are a non-standard entry qualification that is exter-
nally examined, universities often look at our students favourably as it does not affect their
rankings, trusting that the calibre of students we produce are fully prepared for their first
year of Higher Education. Through our syllabus and teaching style, students are thoroughly
equipped with the tools to exceed at top universities.

2. Why is the UFP unique?
1. We were the first, and thus the oldest, independent foundation programme in the UK, estab-
lished in 1989.

3. Why do students need the UFP?
One of our main strengths is our independence. After successfully passing the UFP, students can
enter over 100 universities in the UK. When they come to the UK, most students are unsure about
what university would offer them the degree course best suited to them. And this is one of the
most important decisions in their lives. At the UFP, we ensure that they make the most informed
decision, by identifying the students’ strengths and interests and thus the best degree courses
and universities for them.
Sometimes students do not meet the conditions required to enter university directly from their
high schools at home and the UFP constitutes an alternative qualification for them to be able to
be accepted at a top UK university. At the same time, the UFP provides students with key ideas
about the different university degree courses available, and the opportunity of completing their
majors in English, so that they can succeed at university.
Another reason why students choose the UFP is to adapt to the lifestyle in the UK and our aca-
demic system prior to embarking on their university degree. This guarantees a successful inte-
gration into a foreign country and allows students to improve their academic English.
Finally, the individual, personal, and academic support that a college of 200 hundred students
can provide seems to be much more beneficial for students who are studying abroad for the first
time than the one that a university of thousands of students can offer.

With a wide diversity of universities, libraries and museums, London is a top location for interna-
tional study. David Game College is located in Notting Hill Gate in the Royal Borough of Kensington
and Chelsea - one of the most fashionable areas of London. David Game College allows students

Bath Academy, Bath
Located 150km to the west of London, Bath is a World Heritage City surrounded by picturesque
English countryside. Bath Academy is located in the city centre, allowing students to take full
advantage of Bath’s rich cultural resources, including museums, galleries, ancient Roman baths,
a medieval abbey and elegant Georgian architecture. With a particular focus on small teaching
groups, Bath Academy is able to concentrate on the individual needs of every student, thereby
helping them to reach their full potential.

5. Pathways
The UFP can lead to almost all degrees within the areas of Engineering, Sciences, Business, Ac-
counting, Law, Social Sciences, Humanities, Pharmacy, International Relations, Art & Design, Ar-
chitecture, and Mathematics. The University Foundation Programme cannot prepare a student for
degree in Dentistry, Medicine or Veterinary Science degrees but can be used for medical-related
programmes such as Biomedical Sciences, Genetics, Biochemistry and Pharmacy.
In order to provide students with the best preparation possible, students can choose from 5 dif-
ferent pathways:
1. Business and Finance
2. Engineering and Technology
3. Law, Humanities and Social Sciences
4. Science and Pharmacy
5. Art, Design and Architecture
Extended UFP
Past experience has taught us that some students need a little bit longer and a little bit extra to
reach their goals. Our Extended UFP course is designed in such a way to give these students the
time and space to achieve their best.
The Extended Foundation allows academically weaker students to benefit from having a four
terms of study as opposed to the traditional three. This extra term provides students with the
opportunity to improve their Mathematics, IT and English skills and introduces them to basic
subject and topic materials necessary to succeed. The Extended UFP runs from July to June and
September to August each year. Both starts allow students to start university the following aca-
demic year.
The Art, Design and Architecture Extended foundation acts similarly, enabling students to work
on particular key skills as well as introducing them to elements they may have never covered
before, if they do not come from a strong art background. This course will provide students with
ample time to put together an extensive portfolio in time for university interviews later in the
academic year.

6. Course Structure & Term Dates
Modules
Students take 6 modules over the duration of the course;
3 minor modules in the first term and 3 major modules in
the second and third terms.
Minor Modules - Compulsory (Term 1)
- Core Mathematics
- Information and Communication Technology
- English
Major Modules (Term 2 and 3)
The 3 major modules are related to the degree the student
wishes to take and are undertaken in the second and third
terms.
Each student will be recommended to take specific modules
depending on their selected pathway and their desired uni-
versity degree course.
Major Modules Offered: Accounting, Biology, Business Or-
ganisation, Chemistry, Economics, Fine Art, Further Com-
puting, Further Mathematics, Geography, Graphic Design,
History, Law, Media and Film Studies, Photography, Physics,
Politics, Psychology, Quantitative Methods and Spatial De-
sign.
Class sizes
Class sizes will vary on the popularity of the subject be-
tween 12 – 20 students aged between 16 and 22.
UCAS Submission
Students receive full suport to make their university application through the UCAS system, and
we will endeavour to have it submitted by the end of the first term. During this time, students
will receive full support and guidance of staff as they fill in their UCAS application and make the
crucial choice and decision as to what course they wish to study and what institutions to apply to.
University Fairs at UFP
The UFP also runs a university fair twice a year, inviting around 20 universities to visit the college
and meet our students. This gives students the opportunity to find out more about their courses
and discuss their questions with a member of the Admissions Staff personally.
Method of assessment:
Students are assessed throughout
the course by sitting progress tests,
and end of term examinations and
submitting coursework for each
subject.
We have two intakes each academic year:
- Intake 1: September - June
- Intake 2: January – August
Both allow students to join university the following academic year.

7. Course Fees
Fees usually change every year, so make sure you have the latest updated fee scale.
The fees for September 2015 are as follows:
Business and Finance UFP £13,950
1st Payment £7,000 Deposit
2nd Payment £4,000 Due 1st week of Term 1 (September 2015)
3rd Payment £2,950 Due 1st week of Term 2 (January 2016)
Law, Humanities and Social Sciences UFP £13,950

Engineering and Technology UFP £14,950 + Practical Fees
3rd Payment £3,450 + Practical Fees Due 1st week of Term 2
A Practical Fee of £500 per subject is charged for the following Major Modules:
Biology, Chemistry, Further Computing & Physics
Science and Pharmacy UFP £14,950 + Practical Fees
3rd Payment £3,450 + Practical Fees Due 1st week of Term 2
A Practical Fee of £500 per subject is charged for the following Major Modules:

8. Articulation Agreements
The reputation of The University Foundation Pro-
gramme as a highly academic course has led to the
establishment of articulation agreements with a
large number of British universities, including Rus-
sell Group ones.
The number of partner universities we have
strongly recommends itself to students looking to
take a foundation course prior to studying a uni-
versity degree, and hence our numbers keep in-
creasing year on year.

One of the most important factors that has led to the popularity and success of the UFP at David
Game College over the 25 years is the 100% of our students who go on to achieve a place at uni-
versity following their successful completion of the course.
The UFP is currently accepted as an entry level qualification by over 100 British universities.
Over the past few years alone alumni of the UFP have gone on to study on a wide variety of com-
petitive courses at top UK universities including Bristol, Cass Business School at City University,
London, Manchester, London School of Economics, School of Oriental and African Studies, London,
Imperial, King’s College, London, Queen Mary, University of London, and University College of
London.

10. Entry Requirements for the UFP
Under the IGCSE, O-Levels, or WAEC High School qualification system, we ask that students have
a minimum of 5 A – C grades including Mathematics and English. Additional grades for particular
subjects may be requested, dependent on the choice of degree. Students wishing to study Art,
Design and Architecture will be asked to show samples of their portfolio or current artwork.
Students must also have a minimum IELTS score minimum of 5.5 overall with no less than 5.0
in any subject. Higher grades may be requested dependent on the choice of degree. They will
need this certificate to obtain their Tier 4 General visa. If a student does not obtain that grade
but scores a 4.5 or 5.0 overall, we may ask them to come for our Extended UFP with extra time
to improve their English.
Students under 18, however, may come under a Tier 4 Child visa and are exempt from the IELTS
requirement. They will need to undertake a SKYPE interview to determine their English Language
proficiency and an entrance test sat under secure conditions at a British Council venue in their
home country.
All applicants are assessed on a case-by-case basis by the Course Director and any admissions
requirements given here are merely a rough guideline.
We can now issue unconditional offers and a CAS for students with pending results. This is re-
served for students who have proven to be academically strong and will need to take an entrance
test in a secure location, such as their local British Council, to demonstrate they are suitable for

11. UFP Application Process
Students are asked to submit an application online at http://ufpintranet.co.uk/applicationForm/
create.
When they submit this application, the student will need to attach the following documents,
1. A copy of their High School results (requirements vary depending on the country, please
check with the Admissions Officer, and more information can be found in our website).
2. A copy of their passport
3. A copy of thier IELTS/PTE certificate (if taken) (We ask for 5.5 overall and nothing below
5.0 If the student has overall 5.0, (s)he will need to take the Pre-Extended UFP)
4. A short personal statement (around 200 words) in which the student answers the follow-
ing questions:
a. What do you want to study at university and why?
b. Why do you want to complete your studies in the UK?
c. What are your career plans after finishing your studies in the UK?

There is no set deadline for the University Foundation Programme. That being said, we recom-
mend that all visa students to have paid their deposits and obtained their CAS reference numbers
at least one month before the start of the course to ensure that the visa application is processed
in time.

The College will consider your application and inform you as to whether you have a conditional/
unconditional offer, or have been rejected.
Conditional Offer Unconditional Offer
1. Meet conditions of your offer & send relevant docu-
ments as soon as possible.
2. Sign Terms and Conditions and return.
3. Pay deposit + accommodation deposit (if required).
4. If under 18 - return guardian form.
5. Return Medical Form
6. Bank statement for VISA sudents (further instruction
given in website).
7. Tuberculosis Test if Required (check UKVI).
8. Letter of permission to Travel.
1. Sign Terms and Conditions and return.
2. Pay deposit + accommodation deposit (if required).
3. If under 18 - return guardian form and letter of per-
mission to travel.
4. Medical Form
5. Bank statement for VISA sudents.
6. Tuberculosis Certificate if required (check UKVI web-
site).
Stage 3:
UFP will confirm your place & issue new offer letter. CAS number will be issued for VISA students.
Stage 4:
Notify the college when you have obtained your visa and provide your arrival details. Accom-
modation will be confirmed (but is not guaranteed as it is on a first come first served basis)
and you can request airport collection, if needed.

12. Accommodation
We have a specific brochure for the student accommodation we offer. They are all located near
the college. They have the following advantages:
- Wi-Fi facilities.
- Self-Catering or Half-Board accommodation.
- Single, Shared (Twin) and En-Suite rooms.
- Available all year.
- Housing Warden and Accommodaiton Officer responsible for student welfare.
