This document provides information about the Development Studies (DDS 0111) course offered at The State University of Zanzibar. The course is a multi-disciplinary diploma core course that addresses central themes of development including theories, practices, impacts, and agents of development. The course objectives are to help students develop an understanding of development concepts and theories, demonstrate tolerance of different political views, illustrate the importance of technology, and demonstrate awareness of gender issues. The course contents cover development theories, democracy and governance, science and technology, and gender and is assessed through essays, tests, seminars, participation, and an exam.
