DECLINING
OF MORAL
VALUES IN
YOUTH
Meaning Of Moral Value
“Moral values are those traits
against which people measure
right and wrong. They go far
beyond such things as intelligence
and education and talent. Moral
values come from example and
from working and living
together.”
Youth is the future
wealth of a country ¾
of a country’s
Population is youth.
Youth constitute age
group of 15 -35.
They possess the energy
and power not only to
destroy burning spheres
of fire or erupting
volcanoes, but also the
embodiment of love and
affection.
 Now a day’s many young
teenagers are grow up
without values.
 The decline of values among
youth have increase in crime
and violence, sexual activities
and drug abuse.
The confusion and
blind belief of this
period can also lead to
the early formation of
trauma and other deep
problems.
 The critical thing here is to
learn a sense of right and
wrong, good and bad.
 The Modeling Period
Between the ages of eight and
thirteen, we copy people,
often our parents, but also
other people.
We may be much
impressed with religion or
our teachers.
The Socialization Period
Between 13 and 21, we
are very largely
influenced by our peers.
 The question of retaliation
when scolded by our parents
or elders never arises in our
minds.
 We used to greet our elders,
parents and teachers with
love and humbleness.
 Youths of today lack
manners and discipline. They
raise their voice and retaliate
when scolded by their
parents and teachers.
 Some of them greet their
teachers even with punches
or stones.
 For example, a few years back,
there was a lot of hue and cry
about a case involving some
students beating their teacher
on some matter.
 Its true that youths are a
reckless lots- always wanting to
experiment new things, taste
new things.
They need a firm grip or
hold, a brake type. And
this is possible only by
imbibing moral or value
education- which is very
much lacking in our
present scenario.
 In some schools, the subject
moral science is there.
 But the way it has been taught
just as a light subject-question
and answer type- the whole
approach is not right.
 Teachers and students, both,
take the subject lightly as it is
not included in the board exam.
But no one has
considered the
importance and value
of this subject- how it
will help a student, or
an individual for that
matter, in the long run.
 It will help the youths to
listen to their inner voice- the
conscience. And they will
hesitate and have second
thoughts before committing a
wrong deed, say stealing
lying, cheating and such.
 Moral education should be made
compulsory in all schools.
 We can’t say that the personality
of a youth or an individual is
complete, just because he is well
educated until and unless the
knowledge of moral value is there
in his education.
 Parents, elders and teachers
should try to impart
education to the youths.
 Organizing seminars and
workshops based on moral or
value educations, especially
for the youths have become a
must.
 At that workshop, we discussed
about the problems of youths, the
causes of their moral degradation
and how to solve it.
 how it the name of modernization,
youths are degrading their
behavior, their conduct using
alcohols, drugs, substances and
such.
 Then the problem of pre-
marital sex, its consequences-
unwanted pregnancies,
abortions, spreading of
diseases, STD, HIV and
AIDS, and in all, their moral
downfall.
 If we Organize Workshop for
Youth. The programme Will a
huge success.
 Due to programme youth come
to comfort level and start
sharing their problem with
Teachers or with Elder/parents.
