Presented by :
Miguel Andrew D. Soledad
Before we start, let’s
read the conversation
between Lance and
Crylle
Hi Crylle, What’s
up? You seems not
to be fine now.
What is your
problem?
Hi, Lance. I am fine
but I got an
assignment and it
seems to be hard.
Here, take a look.
Decoding meaning using synonyms and antonyms
Can you help
me out to this
assignment?
Oh, that is so easy.
Watch carefully so
that you will know
what to do.
First, you should look for the word you want to
decipher.
Ex : look
Second, think of a word that is familiar or
lighter in meaning. It is usually easily found in
a sentence.
Ex : look - see
Through this, you will know its
meaning. You can also know it through
context clues.
Ex : I’m looking forward to meet
you next time.
Ex : I think that our family has a
get together next month.
Meet has the same meaning with get
together. It is explained through using
synonyms.
In short, synonyms are words that
have the same or similar meaning.
They are useful when describing
something to avoid repeating a word
used earlier.
In short, synonyms are can be
used to get the meaning of a
word by using context clues.
Also, you can use antonyms in
decoding words through finding
the opposite meaning of a word.
Wow! That’s
awesome!
Thanks for the
help, Lance.
You’re welcome.
Just call me if you
need any help. Oh,
my mom is calling
me. Good bye,
Crylle!
Okay, Good bye,
Lance. See you
next time!
Decoding meaning using synonyms and antonyms
“Prayer of St. Francis”
Make me a channel of peace
Where there is hatred, let me bring your love
Where there is injury your pardon, Lord
And where there’s doubt true faith in you
Make me a channel of your peace
Where there’s despair in life, let me bring hope
Where there is darkness only light
And where there’s sadness, ever joy
(Refrain)
Oh, Master, grant that I may never seek
So much to be consoled as to understand
To be understood as to understand
To be loved as to love with all my soul
Make me a channel of your peace
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned
In giving to all men that we receive
And in dying that we are born to eternal life.
