This document discusses methods for detecting and correcting analytical bias in samples from an ore deposit. It provides an example where samples are taken from four quadrants of a deposit and clustered sampling leads to biased estimates of the mean grade. Nearest neighbor weighting can correct for this selection bias. The document also uses paired samples to detect analytical bias between two datasets and performs orthogonal regression to correct the biased values. This technique accounts for measurement error in both datasets and can provide an unbiased estimate of the true mean grade.
