support and “stuff”.

• Shared governance.
• Academic programmes – some shared,
some campus-specific.

Keys to the kingdom
• What orientation is (and isn’t).

• Progressive, constructivist approach.
A “light touch”, designed to orient students to the library
building, introduce them to the basics and let them know
where they can come for help. At this stage, the students
generally do not want or need more detailed information
about library resources and services.
The basics – finding electronic information (as students
approach 1st/2nd assignment).
Developing skills progressively
throughout students’ university career.
Chapter Four: The Unveiling
• Top-down:
– Directors of Learning and Teaching.
– Campus-level committees.
• Bottom-up:
– Library reps.
– “Library friends”.
• Every which way:
– New staff.
– Information events.
– Casual conversations.
Chapter Five: The Document Lives
• Acceptance on the campus.
• Use by staff.
• Expectations for us!
• Delivering on the offer.
• Co-delivery:
– Academic staff.
– Other professional services.
• Orientation – shift of focus.
• Integrated approach to other areas.
Chapter Six: The Story Continues
University of Greenwich offer.
• Based closely on Drill Hall offer.
• Incorporating a wider team (Academic Skills).
• Out for consultation…now!
And they all learned happily
ever after?
