This document discusses developing a tool for vendor selection in the power sector using cost of quality analysis. It presents a case study of Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd., which aims to integrate supplier historical quality performance data into future supplier selections. The researchers conducted interviews and analyzed documentation to identify key cost drivers related to quality issues. They developed a supplier quality performance tool that calculates total cost of quality for suppliers based on specific cost drivers. This total cost is then added to the purchase price to evaluate suppliers. The case study focuses on distribution transformer rejections and failures at Tata Power, estimating related quality costs. The goal is to help the company make more informed supplier selections factoring in total cost of quality.
