This document describes the development of a controller for economic load dispatch by generating units under varying load demands. The controller aims to ensure each generator supplies power equal to the power demand determined by economic load dispatch conditions. It develops a knowledge base using artificial neural networks to correlate specific power demands with throttle opening/fuel supply rates. A feedback controller model is then presented that sets the field current to match power demand. Finally, a Simulink model of the controller is developed and tested, showing it can supply the required power levels for different field current inputs.
