unique view on the societal roles of women. Atwood, often considered a feminist writer, gives women
a powerful role in many of her works. During the 1960 s, the time that Atwood wrote her poem, a
large feminist movement ensued in the United States that aimed to dismantle workplace inequality.

transformed into motion pictures any times, and two show the theme of madness in Ophelia in
different ways: the 1990 version of Hamlet created by Zeffirelli and the 1996 version by Branagh.
While both actresses that played Ophelia conveyed the madness well, they took different approaches
in terms of vocal inflections and movements. The directors also took different approaches to portray
madness like costumes and settings. Lastly, while Bonham Carter s Ophelia in 1990 shows some
ambiguity in the reasons behind her madness, Blanchett s Ophelia in 1996 does not.
The major scene that shows the madness Ophelia has descended into is in act four scene five. The two
portrayals by Helen Bonham Carter and Kate Blanchett are quite different as shown by their acting of
this scene. First, Bonham Carter s movements appear much more calculated than Blanchett s
movements, as Blanchett primarily lies on the ground trashing out in a random manner. Bonham
Carter, on the other hand, walks around the set with a purposeful stride (witchywoman4u12, 2011).
Next, they also speak quite differently. Blanchett screams the majority of the speech and speaks with
an inflection that speaks of unsureness. Bonham Carter speaks with a calmer tone like she knows

character like her conversations with Gertrude and Claudius, Blanchett s Ophelia appears to be

My undergraduate major is measurement, and I have spent the last three years learning about optics,
mechanics, electric circuits, and coding. Among those courses, and following three years of training
including pieces of research and coursework, I have realized that I am enamored with coding the most.
First of all, I enjoy the process of coding and verifying and adjusting the program. Taking my digital
signal processor coursework as an example, after I finished writing the code, it appeared that the code
might not have been correct because I could not receive the right temperature. So I set the program to
a debug mode and run every single step of my code and observed the feedback value. This was a very
diversion for me. With the criticism comes about because of single step investigating, I made a couple
of theories about the issue, for example, the time postponed is not sufficiently exact, or I might be
coding about the wrong sticks. So I checked these hypotheses one by one, and for reasons unknown,
the issue is the piece of my program concerning time deferring because the segment I used to quantify
