This document provides guidelines for screening and managing gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in India. It recommends universal screening for all pregnant women in India using a 75g oral glucose tolerance test between 24-28 weeks of gestation due to India's high prevalence of GDM. A diagnosis of GDM is made if the 2-hour plasma glucose level is 140 mg/dl or higher. It also recommends classifying glucose levels between 120-140 mg/dl as "decreased gestational glucose tolerance" to indicate the need for closer monitoring and treatment due to increased risks.
