NARRATIVE • Simon realises that good deeds are not always the best thing for him • The video is about Simon (Alex Turner) learning a lesson about violence whilst growing up • Simon encounters two scenes of violence whilst growing up in the video, where he must decide what is the best idea to take to help himself and others
- 4. STORYBOARD Start in oak with pool shot (8 seconds) and film crowd until – cut to performance (15 seconds) film simon walking out (tracking shot of face) (23 seconds) - singing and walking along street Cut to performance element – filming different angles (31 seconds) Film simon walking into wheatsheaf (41 seconds on slag) Performance of drummer (43 seconds) Flick to simon picking up drink from bar – preferably beer (45 seconds) (in the background, a band is playing) Picks up drink and turns right to face camera (47 seconds) two people run past him / past the camera ‘chasing’ each other out the door (50 seconds / new lyrics) and simon looks to the right to see the people (on ‘they’ 51 seconds), camera remains in the same place – tracking shot – mid shot / close ups Close up of empty chair (54 seconds) – simon walks up and sits down ( 55 seconds)– sipping drink whilst watching band (56 seconds) Jacob foot clicking on pedal – close up shot (58 seconds) simon glances towards person sitting next to him reading ‘a little book of sex tips’ (59 seconds) – close up of hands with book (60 seconds) Film amp (1m2s ‘electric’) Film empty glass going onto bar – close up (1m3s) See simon walking out of pub tracking shot from front, walking towards the camera singing (I’m guessing she should rather just forget it) – (1m7) Camera films simon from side – (1m8) sees fight and gets involved and throws punches - film from car park entrance, see simon shouting.
