The case study examines ITC's diversification strategy since its inception in 1910, highlighting its expansion into various segments such as FMCG, hotels, paper and packaging, and agri-business. Although the revenue share from cigarettes has decreased from 64% to 60% over five years, ITC has struggled in FMCG compared to competitors and faced challenges in the hotel sector. The study concludes that while diversification has benefited ITC, it still needs to enhance its market leadership in FMCG and improve its hotel market share.
