Jack helps his mother with grocery shopping and follows her list, but wanders off to the toy aisle when he sees bicycles for sale. Mom panics when she cannot find Jack. They locate each other in the toy aisle, where Jack had gone to look at bicycles. Mom is angry that Jack wandered off without telling her because it was dangerous and scared her. She tells him he must follow the rules to stay safe.

- 3. Mom said, “Jack, I was wondering if you wanted to help me with the grocery shopping by carrying the list and crossing the items as we put them in the cart?” Jack said, “Yes, I would love to help!”

- 7. “Can I help you Ma’am?” said the sale associate. “HELP! HELP!”
- 8. “My son is MISSING! I have his picture in my purse!” said Mom.
- 9. “Okay, Ma’am, lets stay calm, do you have any idea where he may have wandered off to?” the sales associate asked.
- 10. Mom said, “I know where he is! He probably wandered to the toy aisle to see the bicycles. We had discussed getting one today if he followed directions.” Mom and the sales associate walked to the toy section to see if they could find Jack.
- 11. Jack saw his Mom and said, “Hey Mom there you are! Look at this bicycle isn’t it great? It’s on sale for this week only.” Mom looked at Jack with a worried face and sighed with relief. Jack said, “ What’s the matter Mom?”
- 12. Mom looked at Jack and said, “I was terribly worried because you wandered off. It scared me to think that I couldn’t find you.”
- 13. Mom looked at Jack and said, “You need to listen to the rules. Rules keep you safe. Do you understand why I am angry?” “I do Mom, it’s because I wondered off and didn’t tell you where I was going,” Jack replied.
- 14. The sales associate said to Jack and Mrs. Dino, “ I’m glad you have been reunited. Is there anything else I can do for the two of you?” Mom said, “No thank you, I appreciate you helping me find my son!” The sales associate said good bye and he went back to work.
