What Is Diabetes
Diabetes is a Chronic Disease.
Diabetes is Metabolic disorder.
For our bodies to work properly we need to
convert Glucose from food in to energy, a
hormone called Insulin is essential for the
conversion of glucose in to energy.
In people with diabetes, Insulin is no longer
produced or not produced in sufficient
amounts by the body .
What Is Diabetes
 So when people with diabetes eat Glucose ,
which is in food such as Breads, Cereals,
fruit any starchy Vegetables , Yogurt and
sweet things, it can't be converted in to
energy .Instead of being turned in to energy
the Glucose stay in Blood .That’s why blood
glucose levels are higher in people with
diabetes and blood glucose level high
called glycaemia.

 257 Australian develop diabetes every day
 2005 Australian AusDiab follow –up
study(Australian Diabetes obesity and Life style
study) showed Nearly one million Australians
are currently diagnosed with Diabetes and 1.7
million Australian are not diagnose with
diabetes
 Total Number of Australian with diabetes and
pre –diabetes is estimated at 3.2 million.
 Six leading cause of death in Australia
 By 2031 it is estimated that 3.3 million
Australian will have type -2 diabetes(VOS et al

kapha,pachak pitta, saman vayu

Kleda vrudhi (unnecessary excessive body
fluid oozed out from all dhatu)

level are higher. so some people may have diabetes without knowing
about it.

 Take 25 gm – 50 gm
fenugreek seed in
two equal dose
 Begins 25 gm of
fenugreek seeds in
two equal dose of
12.5gm before Lunch
and dinner
SOME RECIPES:-
Rice 30gm
Black gram lentils 15gm
Red gram lentils 15gm
Green gram lentils 15gm
Fenugreek seeds 12.5gm
oil 15gm
Salt to taste
Method :-
Soak rice ,lentils and fenugreek
seeds over night, In morning
grind them coarsely .Add all
the spices and spread on hot
pan. fry it slow heat on both
side. when its become golden
brownish in colour ,serve it.
Some recipe for Diabetes
Chapatti/Bread:-
Multigrain flour 90 gm
Fenugreek Seeds powder 12.5 gm
DALIA/LENTIL SOUP:
Broken wheat 60gm
Green Gram lentils 30 gm
Fenugreek seeds 12.5 gm
Cumin 2-3 gm
Black Pepper 2gm
Water 250ml
Salt to taste
Method:-
Soak fenugreek seeds Overnight.
In morning heat oil, fry wheat
and green gram lentils till
golden brown add fenugreek
seeds and water and cooked
till soft and semisolid, add salt
to taste and serve hot.
BITTER GOURD JUICE/ BITTER MELON JUICE
Its activate pancreas, spleen and liver and helps in
admirable absorption of food in the GI tract.
Karela Juices is extremely beneficial in treating
Diabetes mellitus.

Do Don’ts
 Drink plenty of water
 Eat 20 - 25 grams of raw onion
daily. Onions contain properties
that actually fight against diabetes.
 Try to switch to herbal tea rather than
caffeinated tea or coffee
 Try to choose low or non fat dairy
products,
 Eat at least 3 servings of fresh
vegetables daily. Vegetables that
can be consumed in larger
quantities such as cabbage, mint,
spinach, bitter gourd, lady's finger,
cauliflower, cucumber, carrots,
radish, onion ,gourd and pumpkin.
 eat foods that contain wheat, rye,
barley and, for some, oats

any meal

 Avoid eating or drinking anything
containing a lot of sugar likes
cakes, sweets, chocolate etc.
 Don't over eat at any time of the
day
 Do not sleep in day time
 Stop eating fried or fatty foods.
 Avoid eating large quantities of lots
of rice, potatoes, bananas as these
can raise your blood sugar level.
 Avoid fatty products like butter,
cheese, ghee etc. It is better to use
low fat milk or skimmed milk.
 Try to reduce the intake of salt in
your food. To reduce the CVS
problem.
 On an empty stomach, alcohol can
cause hypoglycaemia, especially if
you are taking insulin

CHINA(39.8 million),The United State (19.2
Million),Russia(9.6million) and Germany(7.4million)
 Each year 3.8million death are attributable to
diabetes.
 Every 10 second a person dies from diabetes –
related cause.
 Every 10 second s two people develop diabetes.

 Diabetes is fourth leading cause of global death.
 At least 50% of all people with type 2 diabetes are
unaware of their condition.
 Up to 60% of type 2 diabetes is preventable by adopting
a healthy diet and increases physical activity.
 Diabetes is the largest cause of kidney failure in
developed countries.
 10% - 20% people with diabetes will die of renal failure.
 It is estimated that more than 2.5 million people
worldwide are affected by diabetic retinopathy.
