Dove Library Orientation
Welcome to the Dove Elementary Library! Your librarian is  Mrs. Henry.
Behavior Expectations Quiet voices. Walking feet. Respect yourself, others, and all materials. Use your time wisely.
Check Out Expectations Second – Fifth Grade may check out  three  items. Third – Fifth:  One item must be a “Good Fit”/”Just Right” CHAPTER book (It must say FIC as part of the call number.) Only one drawing, I Spy, comic, Guinness World Records type book at a time.
“ Items” include:   Books  Audio books In bags that have a book and either a cassette or CDs Cassette sets CD sets Playaways Remember, TumbleBooks and Sylvan Dell eBooks on our databases list Magazines
Duration of Check Out   Books – Two weeks Audio books – Two weeks Magazines – One week All items, except those on hold and the current Bluebonnet books, may be renewed once.  If you scan the book before it’s late, it will automatically renew. If you still need more time, please discuss your situation with Mrs. Henry.
Check Out Times You  MIGHT  only come every other week as a whole class with your teacher. You MAY come daily during Open Circulation times (see posted schedules).  You MAY come Tuesdays and Thursdays after school (except first Thursday when Mrs. Henry is at a meeting.)   *Remind your parents you will not be coming out to the car right away.
Check Out Procedures Third – Fifth grade:  your cards are kept in the library in a file box for your grade. Cards are filed behind your teacher’s tab and behind the first letter of your last name. At the computer,  Scan your card Check the screen to verify that your information is up Scan your books Select ONE bookmark Check your books before you leave the library for any damage to be reported.  Read silently until your class is ready to leave.
If you forgot your books: You may read a magazine or a reference book You may login to Destiny and build a list of books you’d like to check out.
