Wissahickon High School received $20,000 in funding from Dow Chemical for a watershed project in partnership with the Wissahickon Valley Watershed Association. The goals of the project are to produce environmentally literate students, meet Pennsylvania environmental standards, and provide hands-on learning experiences for students in grades 6-11 related to water quality testing and data collection. Teachers will receive training to implement field work and water sampling labs into the science curriculum over three years, starting with 9th graders in 2011 and expanding to include 10th and 11th graders by 2013.
