Joseph E. Gaugler is an associate professor at the University of Minnesota School of Nursing and Center on Aging who conducts research on dementia caregiving and institutionalization. His research focuses on the longitudinal implications of informal long-term care, the effectiveness of psychosocial interventions, and social integration in residential long-term care. He has received funding from the National Institutes of Health/National Institute on Aging for research projects related to comprehensive support for Alzheimer's disease caregivers, caregiver outcomes after nursing home placement, and adult day service utilization and outcomes.
