This document summarizes a study on the morbidity patterns of the elderly population in urban and urban slum areas of Agra district, India. The study found an overall morbidity rate of 86.1% among the elderly. The most common health problems were diseases of the cardiovascular system (51.6%), musculoskeletal system (37.2%), and ocular disorders (35.8%). Morbidity rates for many conditions, such as hypertension, arthritis, and cataracts, were higher among those living in urban slums compared to urban areas. The study concludes that strategies are needed to improve quality of life for the elderly, including establishing geriatric wards and screening/rehabilitative services.
