This document summarizes a student project analyzing drift in rigid frame structures due to lateral loads like earthquakes. It presents analytical calculations of drift using a developed C++ program and compares the results to drift values obtained from ETABS software analysis. The study found that drift increases with building height and number of spans, and decreases with increasing beam and column dimensions and shear values. Drift values from the programming analysis agreed well with those from the ETABS model. The results provide insight into how lateral loads affect drift in tall buildings.
