Schools and Libraries Program of the Universal Fund A more affordable way for eligible schools and libraries to provide telecommunication services, Internet access, and internal connections.
The program, known as E-rate, is intended to ensure that schools and libraries have access to affordable telecommunications and information services. Discounts can range from 20% - 90%.
E-Rate," is administered by the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) under the direction of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).  It is one of four support programs funded through a Universal Service fee charged to companies that provide interstate and/or international telecommunications services. (You may see this charge on your bill!)
Eligibility General  eligibility requirements : Schools must provide elementary or secondary education as determined under state law.  Schools may be public or private institutional day or residential schools, or public charter schools.  Schools must operate as non-profit businesses.  Schools cannot have an endowment exceeding $50 million.
Process Steps included in this process are: preparing a technology plan,  opening the competitive process, seeking discounts on eligible services,  confirming the receipt of services,  and invoicing for services.
Campus Technology Plan Outfit all classrooms 1-5 with SmartBoards. Provide one IPad Touch for every three kindergarteners. Provide one laptop per every three first – fifth grader. Enhance use of Rosette Stone for Spanish language instruction.
