Course Outcomes
At the end of the course, graduate school students are expected to:
1. Understand the research process: Gain a comprehensive understanding of the research process, including the formulation of
research questions, the development of hypotheses, and the steps involved in conducting a research study.
2. Identify and evaluate research designs: Recognize different research designs and their suitability for addressing various research
questions. Critically evaluate the strengths and limitations of each design.
3. Conduct a literature review: Develop skills in conducting a systematic literature review, including effectively searching and
evaluating relevant scholarly sources, synthesizing information, and identifying research gaps.
4. Select appropriate data collection methods: Demonstrate the ability to select and apply appropriate data collection methods based
on research objectives, including interviews, surveys, observations, and experiments.
5. Analyze and interpret data: Develop proficiency in analyzing both qualitative and quantitative data using appropriate analytical
techniques. Interpret research findings accurately and effectively.
6. Understand research ethics: Comprehend the ethical considerations and guidelines associated with conducting research involving
human subjects, including the principles of informed consent, privacy protection, and responsible data management.
3. 7. Communicate research findings: Demonstrate effective communication skills by presenting research
findings through oral presentations, written reports, and visual representations. Clearly and concisely convey research
methodology, results, and implications to different audiences.
8. Evaluate and critically appraise research: Develop the ability to critically evaluate and appraise research studies conducted by
others, including assessing research design, data collection methods, analysis techniques, and the overall validity and reliability of
the findings.
9. Apply research methods in real-world scenarios: Apply research methods and techniques to real-world scenarios through practical
exercises, case studies, and group projects. Demonstrate the ability to design and conduct a small-scale research study.
10. Foster a research mindset: Cultivate a mindset of curiosity, intellectual rigor, and skepticism, enabling the appreciation of research
as a lifelong learning process and fostering the ability to contribute to knowledge in their respective fields.
