Advantages and Uses Enhance curriculum. Assess verbal skills.  Useful to help ESOL students. Make recordings, listen and edit information or gain information.

HISTORY FOR THE FUTURE Orange County BOE in California wanted to offer astounding possibilities for education. They wanted something that was flexible, keep records, compatible and portable. They also searched for something which was easy to use, teachers would “catch” on quick and didn’t require massive training sessions on how to use.
IPOD IN EDUCATION They were able to get their hands on a 5 GB Ipod. After they began to experiment, they realized how important it could be in/outside the classroom. They saw how seamlessly audio could be integrated into the curriculum, the portability and flexibility of the Ipod.
Books Vs. Digital Age Books are expensive, out of date and cumbersome Most are trying to move away from printed textbooks and use online information or multimedia.  Digital content offer savings in cost, increased efficiency, accessibility and enhanced learning opportunities.
Ways to implement Attach a microphone and record lessons, lectures or notes. Install educational software to enhance learning experience. Save videos or presentations to show or tell to staff or students. Download e-books
What’s the problem with using an Ipod for learning? Students may download inappropriate content. Used as a tool for cheating, target for theft or used as a distraction. Students can become isolated or antisocial as well as tuning out surroundings. Students could play the music too loud as to damage their ears/hearing.
BARRIERS Must have basic knowledge of how to operate a computer. Responsibility, maintenance and upkeep of Ipods in/out of school. Uploaded material must be monitored.
Resolution for the problem... Students have something to do Students can show their individuality. Connect more with their peers due to similarities. Students say the music can calm their nerves and anxiety. Various uses for an Ipod which are endless.

PEDAGOGY What makes an Ipod significant is the approach of learning it brings. A majority of students are using Ipods for enjoyment, why not turn enjoyment into learning? Use Ipods to engage learning on their level and to make learning more fun.

MARKET COMPARISON
Conclusion... Ideas are endless, inexpensive and engaging. Students have them, why not implement what they know into the curriculum and use the technology they are most familiar. Easy to learn, easy to create and easy to manipulate.
