This document provides an overview of the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model, which defines 7 layers of networking architecture:
1) Physical layer - Defines physical interface and data transmission
2) Data-link layer - Provides error-free transfer of data frames between devices
3) Network layer - Determines data transmission path based on network conditions
4) Transport layer - Ensures reliable delivery of packets in proper order
5) Session layer - Enables applications to establish communication sessions
6) Presentation layer - Translates data between systems for encryption and compression
7) Application layer - Provides interfaces for programs to access network services
