SUMMARY

Provide value-added engineering and support for the development of new products as well as assisting in the
maintenance and improvement of existing products. Design, test and develop product and product components
following company and industry standards; develop non-routine test and evaluation procedures; assist in
supervision of laboratory activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

•   Design and develop product component parts, product subassemblies and product complete assemblies
    according to company and industry standards
•   Develop and/or produce cost effective control and instrumentation concepts to meet project requirements
•   Develop complete material list of parts required for design requirements
•   Prepare, maintain, and adhere to engineering specifications, design practices and procedures
•   Develop test methods, instrumentation and procedures not covered by recognized Approval Agency
    requirements or rating codes. Administer and carry out these test programs with team’s engineers and lab
    technicians
•   Analyze and interpret test data and make product revisions as necessary to comply with safety and
    performance requirements and standards
•   Analyze, interpret, and be able use test data to perform root cause analysis and develop corrective actions
•   Develop, maintain, and update DFMEAs, and assist in development of PFMEAs and Process Control Plans
•   Work with drafting personnel on the product detailed layout, detailed prints, parts specifications, and Bills of
    Material
•   Formulate product specifications and update these specifications as required
•   Work with Director of Product Compliance, Lab Supervisor, Plant Manufacturing Engineering Team, Product
    Managers, Commodity Managers, and other Product Engineers to enable efficient execution of resolutions to
    issues. Provide needed technical information/assistance to other departments
•   Suggest new product ideas and maintain records for potentially patentable ideas
•   Be thoroughly knowledgeable about and test product in accordance with the Approval Agency of concern,
    such as Underwriters Laboratories, American Gas Association, AHRI, and American National Standard /
    Canadian Standard Association
•   Participate in annual reviews with department managers when a team members’ performance is being
    evaluated
•   Assign and supervise specific tasks within project team in a manner that will allow for efficient completion of
    project goals. Organize and track progress of specific tasks critical to project completion
•   Report progress to Chief Engineer and/or Director of Engineering as requested, in addition to the compilation
    of periodic reports.
•   Carry out other duties that may be assigned such as product evaluations, cost reductions, manufacturing
    problem solving, etc.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

KNOWLEDGE and CERTIFICATION:
BS in Engineering Field, Preferably Electronics/Electrical or Controls Engineering



SKILLS:
Prefer 7-10 years experience in the following areas:
    - Circuit Design (PCB Layout)
    - Communications (TCP/IP, 802.11, Bluetooth, RS-232, RS-485, Modbus etc.)
    - Programming (Embedded System and GUI)
    - Combustion
    - Heat Transfer
    - Hydronics
    - Appliance Design
    - Designing Lab Tests
    - Heating System Analysis
    - Project Management – From design concept to manufacturing
    - Team-orientation
    - Data-Orientation
    - Exceptional Analytical Skills
    - Knowledge of feedback control theory/system modeling
    - Ability to analyze, design, modify, and/ or troubleshoot electrical components, subsystems, and control
        algorithms
    - Familiarity with industrial or commercial control systems

ABILITIES:
Prefer Training in the following areas:
    - Six Sigma Methodology
    - Quality Documentation
    - Personnel Management – Team Leadership
    - Spreadsheets
    - Word Processing
