What are Elements of ART?ShapeTextureLine ColorSpaceValueForm
LINEThe path of a moving point on a flat surfaceCan outline an objectA line is longer than it is widerIt can have movement and indicate a certain directionTypes of lines: zigzag, horizontal, vertical, curved, diagonal, straight, angular, and implied.
LINES LINES LINES!NAME WHAT THESE LINES ARE!
SHAPEA two dimensional area created by connecting the lines to make an objectThey can be positive or negative shapesThey can be biomorphic or abstract, and geometric like a triangle, square, and or circleShapes vary by their color, texture, and or value
CHECK OUT THESE FUN SHAPESNAME THEM ALL!!
FORMThis is a three-dimensional shape It has volume, dimension and massForms can be geometric or metamorphicThey are generally used to sculpt and create
GEOMETRIC or METAMORPHIC?NAME THE FORM IF YOU KNOW WHAT IT IS!
VALUEA variation of lights and darksCan start out light and get dark or vise versaYou can create shadows by using value
Let’s pick out the VALUES!
COLORRed, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet. ROYGBIV!!It can identify an object, create, provoke or convey emotions and moods. There are warm and cool colorsThere are primary (RED, YELLOW, BLUE) secondary (PURPLE, GREEN, ORANGE)intermediate, analogous, and complementary
WARM or COOL?NAME PRIMARY AND OR SECONDARR COLORS!
TEXTURERough, smooth, rugged, grainy, slippery, calloused, sticky…these are just a few of the abundant possibilities of surface texture
What kind of TEXTURE is this?
SPACECan be limited like the confines of a closet. It can be extensive like outer space or shallow like a pond. It can also be as deep as the Ocean.Two-Dimensional space has height and widthThree-Dimensional space has height, width, time and volume.Perspective comes into play with space especially when you want to create depth and distance in a drawing or painting.
WHAT KIND OF SPACES DO YOU SEE? DO THESE PICTURES TAKE OF SPACE?Shallow, Deep, Two-Dimensional, or Three-Dimensional?!
Sourses Professor Stevens, Shelley. Introduction to Drawing 1. Spring Semester 2010.
OUTSIDE ACTIVITY!GO outside and pick out favorite LEAVES!Bring inside and put in book for about 10 minutesWE will laminate our Leaves and cut them outFINALLY we will as a class discuss what types of elements of art our LEAVES are!
LETS GO GET LEAVES!
