This document discusses enablers in the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). There are three types of enablers - exploration enablers which support learning what to develop in a feature, architectural enablers which help accelerate feature development through reusable architecture, and compliance enablers which support activities like validation and documentation for external compliance. Enablers can exist at the portfolio, program, and team levels and are broken down into smaller stories to implement at the team level. Teams allocate capacity at each program increment boundary to decide what percentage of work will go to developing enablers versus features, with more capacity initially going to enablers.

Enable efficient development & delivery of future business requirements. Enablers are containers which makes this preparatory work visible.

- 8. •You explore customer behavior •You develop spike to research for a feature •You create prototypes to get understanding from the customer The work which supports all these learning's is called Exploration Enablers. ExploRation Enablers What you explore to develop a feature? You learn (explore) many times to develop a feature
- 9. Architectural Enablers - Business Needs are evolving in nature, it needs architecture to accelerate the development of features. The work to make this acceleration is called architectural enablers. For Example :- A search facility can be used by multiple Features Architectural Enablers

Compliance Enablers – You do many activities to make sure external compliance's like - - Verification and Validation from different stakeholders - Documentation work as per the compliances - Approvals and regulatory submissions The work which supports all these activities is called Compliance Enablers. Enablers can be sized in story points Counted in velocity/capacity either at team or program level Program level enablers are called- Enabler Features and Capabilities At a Team level – We have small size enablers and these are called Enabler Stories If Size of an enabler is big – These are Epic Enabler, exist at the portfolio level Incrementally • • These Enablers can exist at any level At the team level - Portfolio and program level enablers are decomposed and finally They are implemented at the team level.
- 12. How To allocate capacity to work on Enablers? At each PI boundary, the team on agree What percentage of work will go to Enablers along with other features? Team agreement is important for this capacity allocation and this allocation may vary from time to time. – Initially, more capacity can be allocated to enablers compared to the development of features.
