Introduction Multistakeholder
ICANN Defines:
The multistakeholder model of Internet governance is a collaborative approach that involves the
participation of multiple stakeholders, including governments, private sector, civil society,
technical community, and academia, in the relevant policy-making process. This model is based
on key principles of transparency, inclusivity, and collaborative decision-making, ensuring that
all voices are heard and considered in the governance of the Internet. The technical community
is an integral part of this multistakeholder model.
Internet Society Defines:
The multistakeholder governance framework is informed by three components: a) opened-
ended unleashed innovation (infrastructure), b) decentralized governance institutions
(governance) and, c) open and inclusive processes (human).
6. Challenges Identified by End users
1. Lack of Awareness and Understanding: Limited knowledge about the
multistakeholder model among grassroots users.
2. Representation and Diversity Issues:
Underrepresentation of certain groups leading to unequal participation.
3. Political Manipulation: Influence of politics hindering genuine multistakeholder
engagement.
3. Communication Barriers: Ineffective communication channels among
stakeholders.
4. Hierarchical Leadership Structures: Top-down approaches contradicting the
bottom-up ethos of the model.
