This document discusses the endocrine system and some of its key glands. It focuses on the pituitary gland and suprarenal gland. The pituitary gland, also called the hypophysis, regulates other endocrine glands and is divided into the adenohypophysis and neurohypophysis. The adenohypophysis secretes trophic hormones and is further divided into the pars tuberalis, pars distalis, and pars intermedialis. The suprarenal gland, also known as the adrenal gland, is surrounded by a capsule and consists of an outer cortex and inner medulla. The cortex is divided into three zones that secrete different hormones.
