Unit 1: Projections of Line
Problem Statement (Phase I- 2013) :-
The point P of a line PQ is in HP while its other end Q
is 50 mm above HP and 80 mm in front of VP. The line
is inclined to VP at an angle of 400 . Draw the
projections of a line if its elevation measures 78mm .
Find true length of a line and the inclination made by
line with HP. Also, locate the traces of line.
Given Data:-
1. p’= on XY
2. q = 50 mm above HP
3. q= 80 mm in front of VP
4. ɸ = 400
5. Elevation length = 78 mm
Draw XY line and locate projection of points p’Step 1
Draw line = 50 mm above XY which is parallel to XY
Locate q1 ‘ from p’ of 78 mm
Draw arc from q1 ‘ to q’ with p’ as centre
Step 2
Extend the projector lines p’ to p
Draw line at angle of 400 from point q1 ‘ which cuts points p
Step 3
Take a distance pq1 ‘ and draw line p’q2 ‘ of same distance which is TL
And measure θ
Step 4
By using inclined to HP and parallel to VP, we get q point, join pq
By considering given data q is 80 mm in front of VP
and finally draw pq which is PL.

Draw a traces :
HT extend a’b’on XY line from that draw projector which cuts ab
VT extend abon XY line from that draw projector which cuts a’b’
