- 3. What is an Engineer’s Notebook? An engineer’s notebook is a book in which an engineer will formally document, in chronological order, all work that is associated with a specific design project. Each engineer has an engineer’s notebook. Engineers record all related project work by hand.

- 7. 4. The notebook is stored in a safe location when it is not being used. 5. When the notebook is full, a new one begins and picks up where other ended. Archive the old notebook. 6. - 8. 7. Entries start at the top of the page, working left-to-right and top-to-bottom. 8. Markers that bleed through the paper are not used. 9. Inserted items are permanently attached (glue is preferred). Loose leaf items do not belong in the notebook. - 9. 10. The date that each entry was made is clearly indicated. 11. Mistakes are crossed off, initialed, with correction placed nearby. Never erase or remove anything. 12.
