- #2: Our earth was once pure and clean, but today is a whole another story. Over the past decades, humans have polluted and damaged the once pure environment and wasted our natural resources.
- #3: Our global environment and economic security are lastingly intertwined. In addition, the levels of greenhouse gasses, environmental degradation and natural resource depletion are always increasing and one of the biggest risks to achieving our environmental goals. We need to achieve economic growth while combating climate change and other natural resource challenges. Nevertheless, how will we achieve this?
- #4: What is environmental and resource security? Environmental security is defined as – environmental viability for life support. We can divide it into three sub-categories - preventing or repairing military damage to the environment, - preventing or responding to environmentally caused conflicts, and - protecting the environment due to its inherent moral value. Today, we still haven’t achieved this. Climate organizations are working on it, but the prosess is very slow. Responding to this challenge requires breaking down traditional silos and developing new forms of cooperation and innovation across the public and private sectors to quickly effect change at scale. We have to bring together leading experts and practitioners and get the public involved.
- #5: Here you see the emissions of the greenhousegass CO2 (also called carbon dioxyde) in the period from 2009 too 2011. You van see that the emissions decreased in year 2011. This happened because of the United Nations Climate Change Conference which was held the same year. This is an example that us humans can make a change in clamate. We can’t make the world completely pure from greenhouse gasses, but we can make the climate conditions in the world a little bit better.
- #6: Most people doesn’t believe that one person can make a change, but that’s wrong. If everyone thinks that way, nothing will change. But, with the right attitude nothing is impossible. So take action now, before it is too late. As Lemony snicket said, «if we wait for the time to be right, we will be waiting for the rest of our lives». Getting involved in demonstrations may seem a bit drastic to many people, so joining clubs and organizations are good alternatives. In norway we have an organization called «Natur og Ungdom» for the youth and adults to join.
