Henry is very determined to become a hero, and the story tells Henrys voyage from
being a young coward to becoming a brave man. This voyage is the classic trip from

To begin, the story starts out with a huge debate between the soldiers. One boy had
heard a rumor that the regiment would be moving on to fight a battle the next day.
Some of the soldiers agree with this boy. Others think that their regiment will never go

they want to become big time war heroes. This is weird because in the end of the
book you will find that their wishes come true. When the battle starts, all the
soldiers get very anxious and nervous. Tom and Henry don t turn out to be as brave
as they think that they could be. While hiding, Tom finds Henry, and gives him an
envelope of letters for his family. Tom believes that this will be his first and his last
battle.
Henry ends up fulfilling his worst nightmare. Instead of sticking out the battle with
the rest of his regiment, he hides behind some brush in order to spare himself from

He listens in on the battle, and to much of his surprise, he hears cheering from what

that he is a coward and a deserter. Out of guilt, Henry runs back to the battle site, and

analyze it with theories learned in class. She also plays the devil s advocate to argue
that capitalism has destroyed not only the planet, but also humankind, specifically,

Educators, administrators, and the public might also argue to increase fine arts
funding, but only to the schools who are struggling to meet Core standards, as well
as other educational requirements. In school facilities where there are large
demographics of Hispanics and African Americans, students are less likely to have
the opportunity to take art classes (Holcomb). Since these students won t receive as
equal of an education as their peers, then something needs to intervene and equalize
their opportunities with those who have access to these programs. Historically

Aly Daniels Composing an easy reader has helped me understand the genre
because before this project I did not realize all of the stipulations and rules that are
required in order for the book to be considered an easy reader. When my group
began to work on this assignment, we thought that it would be relatively easy and
straightforward. However, when we got together we realized that we had not
followed a lot of the regulations needed in order for our book to be an easy reader.
One major component that I learned about this genre is how constricting the word list
is, but also how important it is to stick to the word list. If a book strays too far away
from the Dolch vocabulary list, then it is no longer an easy reader, and will frustrate
rather than empower the reader. Another way that composing this book helped me to
understand the genre is that it showed me that the main importance of these books is
teaching reading. Yes, these books can have good stories, and pictures, but the part
of the book that really matters is if the students can read the book. These books are
used to help teach children how to read, and they are handcrafted in order to put the
students on the path to success. That is why font, font size, and white space are so
important. All of these attributes make the words easier to read, and reduce
distractibility, which is crucial for a student who is just learning how to read and put
