This study evaluates five extraction methods for predicting available forms of iron (Fe) in southeastern Nigerian soils, finding that the Coca-Cola method is the most effective, extracting the highest Fe content. Results indicate significant correlations between extracted Fe and Fe uptake by maize plants, highlighting the importance of accurate soil tests for addressing Fe deficiencies in agriculture. The study suggests that while Coca-Cola is the best extractant, hydrochloric acid and EDTA can also be used effectively in the absence of Coca-Cola.
