This document presents a novel approach to analyzing carotid arterial pulse wave (CAPW) signals using wavelet transforms. The discrete wavelet transform (DWT) is used to decompose CAPW signals into approximate and detail components across 10 levels. The continuous wavelet transform (CWT) is used to create 3D surface plots and contour plots of the decomposed signals in the time-scale domain. Normal and abnormal CAPW signals are analyzed, with abnormalities including large/bounding pulses, small/weak pulses, a free dicrotic notch, and a flat dicrotic notch. The wavelet analyses reveal differences between normal and pathological signals that may help physicians more easily diagnose vascular conditions.
