Evaluation Question 4
How did you use media technologies in the construction
and research, planning and evaluation stages?
Blogger
 Blogger was used to keep track of all the research I had
done. I used Blogger in my AS coursework which made me
familiar with the site. Blogger allowed me to upload as many
pieces of work that I wanted to including pictures, text and
videos.
 Blogger was also good as it allowed me to embed some of
my work which was created on different platforms. Blogger
also made my work more efficient as it gives you the option
to create tabs which makes it easier to navigate your way
around the blog.
Presentation Software
 Powerpoint - Slideshare, Emaze, Prezi
 Powerpoint was originally used and uploaded to Slideshare
to easily display my presentations however, as I became
more experienced in using different presentation software, I
started to use Emaze and Prezi. These are more advanced
ways of presenting my research. Emaze and Prezi
presentations could be embedded into my blog for easier
access instead of having an external link to access it.
Planning – Timetable
 I had to create a timetable to keep track of what was
happening where. Together with my models, we had to find
times where everyone was free to film and take my
photoshoot. To do this, I used Microsoft Word as I felt like it
was the most simple way to complete a simple timetable
which everyone could follow. In AS, I did not stick to a
timetable therefore making one in A2 allowed me to be more
organised.
Planning – Storyboard
 I created a Storyboard for my music video on Microsoft Word.
I produced a digital version of my storyboard as I felt it would
be clearer to present what I imagined for each section. In my
storyboard, I included how long the shot would last, an image
of what would happen in the shot and the lyrics that would be
heard throughout the duration of the shot. I was able to
screenshot this and upload it to my Blogger to present my
work.
Planning – Shooting Script
 My shooting script was completed alongside my storyboard
as I felt it was easier to understand. For my shooting script, I
included what shot would be used for which part in the music
video. For example, in my first shot I wrote that I would use
an establishing and pan shot for the opening scene. I again
was able to screenshot this to upload it to my pre-production
stage on my Blogger.
Production – Photoshop
 Photoshop was one of the main software's I used when I was
creating my products. Photoshop was used for the production
of my ancillary tasks. I had previous knowledge of Photoshop
from my AS portfolio therefore when I had to use it again in
A2 I was more confident with it. Photoshop allowed me to
crop images, add filters, change the opacity, increase
exposure and cut out images. By doing this, I was able to
create my digipak and my magazine advert for the digipak.
Production – Final Cut Pro
 Final Cut Pro was used for my main product; a music video.
This allowed me to put videos together to create my music
videos. Final Cut Pro also enabled me to include filters on
different videos, add text to videos, cut videos, combine
videos, and add audio.
 I had no previous knowledge of Final Cut Pro therefore I had
to learn it as I was using it. I was experimenting with Final
Cut Pro as I was creating my music video to ensure I was
using the correct tools.
Evaluation
 I used Facebook to display one of my evaluation questions.
Facebook is a form of social media in which I posted my
question and answer so I used a different form of media to
present the work. Gmail was also used to present one of my
questions as well as Adobe Spark.
 These are all types of media in which technology allowed me
to upload this work to a media platform.
Overall
 Without technology, my research, planning, construction and
evaluation would not have been able to be recorded in an
organised and simple way. Technology has enabled me to
complete this project professionally. Technology has
advanced and enabled the general public to have easier
access to it than they did before which means anyone can
make professional products of their choice.
